With political unrest, terrorist attacks and natural disasters making news headlines all over the world, it is extremely important to be able to give potential clients a rundown of what is happening in Costa Blanca. Keep your finger on the pulse with the latest Costa Blanca news with these five top stories for 2016:

Great news for those that use the Valencian public transport system, according to a report,  “The regional government in Valencia has decided to freeze the cost of public transport in 2016, in order to promote its better use by making it affordable to more users.” As an added bonus, the TRAM and inter-urban buses are remaining at their 2015 rates.

Alicante in a leading role for the 2016 Vuelta

2016 promises to be an exciting year for cycling enthusiasts in and around Alicante. According to an article the last few days of the cycling tour set in Spain will see Alicante as a defining location. The Costa Blanca news report explains that “The finish of the gruelling three-week, 3,277-kilometre competition – which starts in Galicia on August 20 – will be played out over three stages in the province [Alicante], two of which will be definitive in deciding who will ride into Madrid with the leader’s red jersey on their back.”

The General Hospital of Alicante in the spotlight in Costa Blanca news

A Euroweekly news report details that the General Hospital of Alicante is surpassing previous years’ statistics in successful kidney transplants.  The report details that “It is the first time the hospital has surpassed 100 kidney transplants and is the first hospital to do so in the Valencia Region. The average time waiting for a kidney is seven months, while in the rest of the country the average wait is almost two years.” The waiting list is also shorter than the year before with 105 people waiting for transplants as opposed to the 135 of the year before. It would appear that they are not only thriving with their kidney transplants, but liver transplants too, with 2015 seeing a 27% increase in liver transplants compared to 2014.

Property still seen as a good investment in Spain

As a definite highlight in Costa Blanca news, property is still very much a good investment heading into the new year. According to a report property in Alicante is still a favourite for international property buyers and the more popular it is, the more valuable. Property prices reportedly increased 19.07% in 2015 with 51.88% of the buyers being international.  And as the article outlines, “The attractions are clear – 320 days of sunshine per year, a huge range of beaches, golf courses and other attractions to choose from, a diet recognised by UNESCO and one of the top 10 healthcare services in the world according to figures from the World Health Organization”.  With an opportunity to still find some great property deals, and with the strong pound, it looks like the demand for property in Costa Blanca will continue into 2016 — it’s no wonder that buying a property as an investment is making Costa Blanca news headlines.
